Kyle Walker has asked to leave Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The right-back was left out of the squad for the 8-0 FA Cup win over Salford, with the City boss suggesting before the match that it was not a decision enforced by injury or illness.
Walker has instead told the club he wants to move abroad, amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Guardiola said: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad and end his career.
“He went to (director of football) Txiki Begiristain. For that reason I prefer to play (players) whose mind is here.”
